How MediaSnap Works

MediaSnap guides you from idea to finished media inside one project. Your script, chapters, shots, cast, sets, generations, timeline, and export stay connected.

The production pipeline

COCKPIT → PLAN → GENERATE → COMBINE → EXPORT

This matches the step bar in Director Studio.

Step Top bar Main surface What you do
COCKPIT Cockpit Project overview Story hero, shortcuts, high-level progress
PLAN Plan Director Board Script, chapter board, Snap chat, inline generation
GENERATE Generate Creation Engine Full generate workspace (optional if Snap already created media)
COMBINE Combine Production Studio Timeline editing
EXPORT Export Export center Render final MP4

1. PLAN — Director Board

PLAN opens Director Board — not a separate “scene board” product name. This is where planning lives.

Director Board includes

Area Purpose
Snap chat Draft and revise scripts; generate image/video from chat; shot script edits
Production script Chapters, shots, cast, sets — review before you commit structure
Chapter board Add, reorder, and manage chapters and shots
Inline Generate Reference images for cast/sets on script rows
Board History Past plan chat sessions

Structure (user-facing words)

Project
└── Chapters (story beats — shown as “Chapter” in the UI)
└── Shots (clips you generate and attach media to)

Cast and sets are managed under Elements (sidebar under PLAN).

Snap — AI assistant (top navigation)

Snap is MediaSnap’s AI agent for media generation. Click the Snap icon in the top navigation to open the chat drawer (when the assistant is enabled). With a project open, Snap knows your chapters, shots, script, cast, and sets.

On Director Board, Snap can handle much of the workflow without opening the Creation Engine:

  • Write or update the production script (chapters and shots)
  • Generate images and video from chat (model + references + confirm)
  • Generate cast/set images inline on the script
  • Guide chapter creation after script confirmation

Open the Creation Engine when you want the dedicated GENERATE page and canvas.

2. GENERATE — Creation Engine

GENERATE is the Creation Engine page in the top bar.

Use it for:

  • Open in Creation Engine from a shot on the chapter board
  • Long generate sessions on the multi-result canvas
  • Director Prompt Builder, Director Controls, and full handoff toolbar

Media still saves through the same order pipeline; attach results to shots when finished.

3. COMBINE — Production Studio

COMBINE is Production Studio — timeline editing only (no new AI generation here).

  • Import shot media from chapters
  • Trim, reorder, layers, preview
  • Save production versions

4. EXPORT — Render Movie

EXPORT renders your timeline to a downloadable MP4 (async job + notifications).

Mental model for beginners

  1. Create or open a project
  2. PLAN on Director Board — script + chapters + Snap
  3. Generate with Snap and/or Creation Engine — attach to shots
  4. COMBINE in Production Studio
  5. EXPORT your movie

Same project end to end.
