Continue Segment
Continue segment is a tool on the Creation Engine command bar (forward icon, near prompt boosters). It uses AI to write the next piece of direction from what you already have in the prompt bar.
When to use it
- You finished one beat and want the next segment in the same style
- You are building a multi-shot sequence and need continuity language
- You want Replace or Append options instead of rewriting from scratch
How to open
- Go to GENERATE (Creation Engine)
- Write or load a direction in the prompt bar
- Click Continue segment (toolbar / booster cluster)
Modes inside the modal
| Mode | What it does |
|---|---|
| Continue prompt | Focused continuation from current bar text; optional hint field |
| Continue story | Richer “next scene” flow with continuation mode, continuity strength, preferred shot, quick chips (Escalate, Character, Aftermath) |
Pick the engine type in the modal dropdown; descriptions update in the UI.
After AI runs
You get a next segment direction textarea plus optional reason, notes, shot label, and constraints.

| Replace direction | Overwrites the main prompt bar |
| Append direction | Adds to the end of the bar |
| Regenerate | Runs again with same settings |
| Try different mode | Switch continue style and retry |
Then click Generate on the bar when ready.
Tips
- Set duration and aspect on the bar first — hints in the modal may reference them
- Use with Director Studio Picker to load a chapter shot, then continue its direction
- Not the same as Snap on Director Board — this tool only fills the Creation Engine prompt bar
