AI Models Basics
MediaSnap connects to many AI models (image, video, audio, and specialized). Each model has different strengths, cost, speed, and feature support (especially reference images).
What is an AI model?
An AI model is the engine that turns your prompt + settings + references into media. You pick the model in the Creation Engine (or in direct tools like Image Lab when not in cinematic mode).
How to choose a model
In the Creation Engine:
- Open the model picker
- Compare rankings — Best Overall, Quality, Speed, Value (wording may vary)
- Check estimated cost and duration before generating
- Confirm reference support if you rely on cast/set images
Practical guide:
| Goal | Look for |
|---|---|
| Consistent character face | Models with strong image reference support |
| Cinematic shot video | Video models with motion + Director Controls |
| Quick draft | Faster, lower-cost models |
| Final hero shot | Higher quality tier; longer render time |
Browse all models under Discover → AI Models.
Model settings
Each model exposes its own controls, for example:
- Resolution and aspect ratio
- Duration (video)
- Motion or style strength
- Director Controls — camera, lens, movement presets on supported video models
Settings apply to the current generation unless you save defaults.
Project defaults
Set preferred models once in Project Profile (project menu or PLAN navigation):
- Default image, video, character, or environment models
- Common options (duration, resolution, style)
When you open the Creation Engine from that project, defaults load automatically. This keeps a series or campaign consistent.
References and model compatibility
Not every model accepts reference images. If you use cast/set names but pick an incompatible model, MediaSnap warns you and may suggest alternatives.
Experimentation still matters — the same model can behave differently by prompt and references.
Cost and plans
- Higher quality and longer video usually cost more credits
- Plans and tiers may gate specific models or concurrent jobs

Setting sensible Project Profile defaults is one of the fastest ways to improve both speed and consistency across a production.
